Well, the blog has been dormant for a while, it’s Paul here with a new video of friends’ bands. Golden Girls are a band based out of Worcester, Massachusetts, USA baby. They rock! Hard! And I think you’ll agree that the world right now is in dire need of some new rockstars. There aren’t any cool ones these days.

Well here is a nice little homage to my musical tastes from approximately my 7th to 9th grade life. I was feeling nostalgic, what can I say? LTJ was a mainstay among my friends and I, as were baggy shorts, Vans, and Emerica Skate Videos. What a strange time that was huh? So it has been an extremely rough week/weekend. Between Paul having to go on temporary hiatus and my life becoming full of unnecessary stresses having to do with everything from the fish & chips going out of stock to tons of work, things have been hectic. This song just about sums up how I’ve felt. Aren’t I just the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen? This song fucking kills it. Love Trent Reznor, love NIN. They just sound like the vicious sex I imagine a certain pair of friends of mine have. Fantastic. I’m glad I got my anger out. Enjoy the hostility. I’ll be back tomorrow with something more cheery. Until then, thanks for listening to me vent. You’re such good listeners.

I am sorry to disappoint the thousands of faithful We’ll Do It Live followers, but I will unfortunately be out of town for a few weeks for family reasons and will not be able to post as often until I return. Fear not, restless readers, my man AJ will be picking up the slack. So allow me to present to you one of the coolest performances (and worst set of teeth) I have seen in a very, very long time. Firstly, the dude is unreal at the slap guitar. Secondly, just a great voice. Thirdly, the focus and musical talent it takes to play a guitar picking melody while simultaneously using your mouth to make a trumpet sound? Jesus. This is just too good. Finger point to Mark for the heads up. (Yes I stole that phrase from TheKnicksBlog.com. Do we have Lebron yet?)

So over winter break, the brother of a buddy of mine tipped me off to this band. Apparently Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have been torching through California (where said brother lives), gaining notoriety for their live shows and cool, ensemble look and sound. Very folky, very artsy. Hopefully getting bigger soon. You be the judge. Here’s ‘Home,’ live on Letterman. Enjoy.

As he so decadently and self-indulgently declared, the founder of this blog, all its subsidiary foundations, and the primary shareholder of all corporate We’ll Do It Live affiliates is celebrating his 21st birthday ON THIS VERY DAY, the 29th of March, 2010. Unfortunately, his coming of age as a legal imbiber of alcohol coincides with his residence in a nation in which he’s already been allowed to drink for three years- a tragic fate that several of my friends studying abroad have suffered. Let it suffice to say that we will party hard upon his return.

Firstly, to be 100% self-righteous and conceited (as per usual), let me just say that today is my 21st birthday. Finally a man, thank goodness. Slightly drunk at this point in the day (11:30 am, yikes), I’ll share with you two performances by my dear friend and fellow American Sir Mark Holland’s new band, Cables Cause Fires. Mark’s been studying in Leeds for the past year, where he met a group of abundantly talented English music students with an eerily similar passion for experimental rock and transcendent lyricism. I think I’m done waxing poetic about them, we need their heads to stay small. You can judge and enjoy. Plus, I’m almost out of cider and a gin and tonic is serenading me from the fridge. Good day, toast me will you?
